The TH6D optical seam tracking system with the new ABB robotic interface

Scansonic's optical sensor system is making history. After nearly a year on the market and more than 25 TH6D systems sold, the interface for ABB robotic applications are available for our customers. Our customers have been convinced by the quality of the TH6D system series. In response to customer requests, a joint design project was conducted with the company ABB.

We decided that the best strategy was to establish a direct communication link between the robot and the sensor system so that no additional investment would be needed for additional actuators. This also significantly simplifies operations. The operator can program the entire application using the hand-held controller from the robot.

In addition to the interface for the ABB robot, the TH6D systems has interfaces to Fanuc and Motoman robots. A digital or analogue communication link to welding machines with linear axis drives is also available. Many options are now available to our customers as they interface the optical sensor system with the seam tracking in their particular machine configurations.
